ABOUT THE NDIS

Welcome to Resilient Life Care’s guide to understanding the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Our mission is to empower individuals with disabilities by providing quality support services tailored to their unique needs and goals.

Frequently Asked Questions About tHE ndis

The NDIS provides funding to eligible individuals with disabilities, allowing them to access personalized supports to achieve their goals. Plans are tailored to each participant’s unique needs and can be managed in various ways.

To apply, contact the NDIS at 1800 800 110 or visit their website to complete an Access Request Form. Our team can assist you through the application process.

NDIS funding can be used for approved supports related to your disability, such as therapy, assistive technology, personal care, or skill-building activities.

Eligibility for the NDIS is based on specific criteria:

  • Age: You must be under 65 years old when applying.
  • Residency: You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa.
  • Disability: You must have a permanent and significant disability that affects your ability to participate in everyday activities.
  • Early Intervention: If early intervention could reduce the impact of your disability or developmental delay, you may also qualify.

For more detailed information, visit the NDIS eligibility page.

The NDIS process begins with the creation of a personalized plan tailored to the participant’s needs and goals. This plan is developed in collaboration with a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) or an NDIS planner and outlines the types of supports and services required. Funding provided by the NDIS is allocated based on the approved plan and can be managed in three ways:

  1. Self-Managed: The participant manages the funding and organizes the supports themselves.
  2. Plan-Managed: A Plan Manager assists in overseeing the funding and administrative responsibilities.
  3. NDIA-Managed: The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) manages the participant’s funding and pays providers directly.

The NDIS funds a variety of supports that fall into three primary categories:

  1. Core Supports: Assistance with daily living activities, transportation, and community engagement.
  2. Capacity Building Supports: Services designed to help participants develop new skills, improve independence, and achieve their goals.
  3. Capital Supports: Funding for higher-cost items, such as assistive technology and home modifications.
